Tottering mouse has anomalies of Purkinje cell (PC) ion channels ( Sawada, 2009 ). This induces decrease in spike firing rate towards deep cerebellar nuclei & inferior olive ( Chen, 2010). PI3K/AKT pathway is important for Ca channels ( Weiss, 2010 )

Encoding and pacemaking activity of PCs is restored by ion channel activators like ethylbenzimidazolinone, very rapidly active on mouse ataxia
