René Theophile Hyacinthe Laennec
described the symptoms of bronchiectasis
in 1819
Sir William Osler suffered all his life from repeated respiratory infections. He died of one of them in 1919. He had requested a post-mortem. Obvious bronchiectasis of the right lower lobe was discovered.
