Sterigmatocystin
Aflatoxin B1

MYCOTOXIN CARCINOGENS
Sterigmatocystin is enzymatically converted into
Aflatoxin B1, both are bisfuranomethoxybenzenes
from Singh R., Appl. and Environ. Microbiol. 1976 (31) 743
Primary liver cancers are increasing
at a high rate
Aflatoxins illustrate that food is an essential source of a carcinogenic mycotoxin.
Sterigmatocystin is its "water damage"  counterpart, but can be transformed into Aflatoxin
For IARC, International  Agency for Research on Cancer, Sterigmatocystin is in category 2B,
Aflatoxin is in category 1
1:Aflatoxin can kill before inducing cancer, as shown in this child:

3/ OTHER MYCOTOXINS :
DON, in rodents is synergistic with sterigmatocystin for production of lung adenocarcinoma.
Prior HBV or HCV infection facilitates Aflatoxin carcinogenesis
Bladder carcinoma
Oesophageal carcinoma
oesophageal carcinomas have strong links with FUMONISIN
DON is IARC group 3
FUMONISIN is IARC 2B
2/ Sterimatocystin

There is a high incidence of kidney cancer and cancer of the urinary tract in some BEN afflicted populations. Relationship with testicular cancer has been discussed. In rodents the only solid evidence is for mammary tumors and hepatic cancer
OTA is IARC 2 B
OCHRATOXIN
